Certification

Inspection Services

We offer inspection services of equipment not belonging to Gorilla for a nominal fee plus normal expenses.

Off-site inspection (anywhere in North America)

Price will be dependent on availability of personnel, location, and extent of the inspection.

On-site services offered include:

  • We will receive equipment, connect to services, operate in dry cycle mode, and inspect to determine overall functionality (fee based).

  • Testing and inspection: complete pressure washing and analysis of structure, mechanical, hydraulic, electrical function, controls, plc and programming.

Once the testing and certification inspection is performed, we will submit a written report with condition rating, functionality, and estimated cost to repair / rebuild / rework / refurbish (R4) to an higher certification, with the minimum being 3-star.

While these testing fees may be perceived to be expensive, there is much less financial exposure than the traditional method of sending a check for 100% payment and hoping the machine is as described. If it isn’t, and you have to use in-house personnel to repair, which in and of itself can be very expensive if you take into account the fact that personnel are not performing their regular duties while working on unfamiliar equipment, tying up other operational personnel to source parts, write PO’s, receive parts and hope they are correct while probably paying more for these components than a machine re-builder like Gorilla (Palmer).

Once R4 (repair / rebuild / rework / refurbish) work is performed, the customer is invited to visit our facility to see the machine in operation or we will videotape the machine in detail while cycling and submit the video to the customer.

Certification

Gorilla Machinery has structured the certification of used foundry equipment to alleviate these common and substantial problems in 3 ways:

  1. 5 Star Certification Program -All equipment has a condition rating:
    5 - Next to new
    4 - Good Condition - Read-to-Go
    3 - Fair Condition - Works
    2 - Runs / Needs Attention
    1 - Parts Machine

  2. We only sell inspected & certified equipment that is either:
    On-site in the Gorilla warehouse

Off-site, but has been personally inspected by Gorilla Machinery personnel or a qualified inspector.

  3. We offer inspection services of equipment not belonging to Gorilla for a nominal fee plus normal expenses.

5 STARS
–Next to New

  • New or like new condition

  • Very low hours

  • All components appear new

  • Machine may appear to have been operated, but not for many hours

  • Might be complete with original manuals and schematics

  • Ready for immediate multi-shift operation

4 STARS
–Good Condition / Ready-to-Go

  • Machine is 100% complete and correct and ready for multiple shift production

  • All functions are operable and correct with no leaks (either hydraulic, pneumatic or chemical)

  • Any cylinders are leak free and shafts are undamaged – seals are in very good condition

  • Control panels are undamaged, all electrical parts are correct and in good condition, and controllers / PLC’s are complete and the programs fit the machine functions

3 STARS
–Fair Condition / Works

  • Machine is complete with correct parts, all electrical, hydraulic, and controls are operational and correct.

  • There are few if any liquid leaks (hydraulic or chemical) and few if any pneumatic leaks.

  • Control panels are complete with all components in good condition with few if any unused or extra components or wiring

  • Overall appearance is acceptable

2 STARS
–Runs / Needs attention

  • Machine is complete and runs but should not be considered a machine ready to put in production with any confidence that it will run all day every day without breakdowns or regular repair (not maintenance which should be considered an off shift expense).

  • Control panels are operable, but some components are damaged or in need of replacement

1 STAR
–Parts Machine

  • Machine is incomplete with some components missing or damaged beyond repair, can be utilized as a base to be rebuilt or as a parts machine. Considerable investment required to R4 into a level 3 or above. Careful consideration must be given to financial considerations for total final cost before R4
